Sustainable Economic Development .

Economic development is firmly interrelated with social and environmental development. To improve these developments, DED cooperates with Regional Government Agencies and Chambers of Trade and Industry as well as Industry Associations for the promotion of small and medium enterprises in the Visayas and Mindanao.

DED strengthens its partners in aligning business goals with Corporate Social Responsibility. This benefits the companies as well as the workforce and the local communities.

DED links companies to poor communities, assists in professionalizing small and medium enterprises, and promotes exports for local products. This results in more stable and sustainable job opportunities for the local population.

Example Rubber Skeletons .

Reliable supply of rare materials is often a constraint for companies producing for export markets. A DED economist has connected a Women's Group in Mindanao with furniture exports in Cebu. The group supplies fossilized Rubber Tree leaves to be used for high-value design furniture. The partnership involves the development of quality standards and conducting trainings. Both, communities and exporters, benefit from this network, creating a new source of income and providing employment.
